greyt aeroponics!

Awesome Tower Garden, right? ! ? !

What is aeroponics? A growing system that recycles water and nutrients  continuously from a 20 gallon water reservoir using a water pump.

It is greyt for apartments and small areas. It uses 90% less water than conventional gardening and grows THREE times faster. And the best part is NO weeding. Awesomely greyt! !  You can grow anything that is not a root, that means carrots, onions have to be grown in dirt.  You can grow veggies, flowers, herbs in the tower.

Lettuce is just amazing. Store bought lettuce, once cut up in a salad, lasts maybe two days in the fridge, then ends up in the trash. Home grown lettuce, once cut, will still be fresh several days later and taste just as fresh as the first day.

This is my second season  with my Tower Garden and I love this system. I am learning to space out my seeds sprouting so that I can have lettuce throughout the summer. This winter I plan to bring it indoors and attach grow lights. Imagine,… fresh, home grown salad all year long!

If you have any questions, just ask me! I am a greyt wealth of information and can even set you up with one of your own! You can check it out at

I also have a box garden that is just growing crazy. The greyt spouse build the box last year, and even set up it’s own watering system.  I am using an organic fertilizer (recommended by a fellow co-worker) through a company called Spray-n-Grow. I have fertilized about three times this year and I now have a monster garden.  I have already harvested about a dozen giant zucchini that I have cooked, baked, frozen and shared with neighbors and family.  Also have yellow squash and soon will have tomatoes. Check these pics out and check out:

Weeds in the box! Greyt bummer!

I have found many greyt  recipes for zucchini . One is Blueberry Zucchini Cake with Lemon Buttercream Frosting. Yum, I made this a couple of times last year and already made it twice this year. It can be found at: (no relation to me).

Here’s another greyt recipe for zucchini:

2 pound raw hamburger

1 medium zucchini, grated

1 medium carrot grated

1 egg

Montreal Steak Seasoning, use generously

Mix all ingredients together and form into patties. Cook on the grill and serve. The burgers are moist and not dried out and remain moist even as leftovers. Can also freeze leftover burgers.

Some of the benefits of cooking with zucchini are: the greyt kids and greyt grandkids have no idea they are getting their veggies (sneaking, huh!). Zucchini is not just for zucchini bread anymore!

Next recipe for this weekend family get together is,. . . Browned Butter Zucchini Coffee Cake from

Happy gardening and zucchini baking until next time.
